The 26th annual Autofest in Oshawa Ont. is gearing up to showcase classic cars later this month, and Pineridge NAPA Auto Parts is a proud sponsor.
Hosted in Lakeview Park – just a quick five-minute drive from Oshawa’s NAPA Auto Parts – the classic car show is a well known and widely celebrated event in Oshawa.
NAPA Auto Parts is excited to sponsor such a show since the owners have a personal love for classic cars, and often provide parts for their customer’s unique needs.
“Recently we had a customer redo a ’70 Impala,” assistant manager, Brian Johnston told Oshawa Express. “[They] did a beautiful restoration on it. Also, we just had a customer restore a factory Volkswagen Beetle from the 60s.”
Some of the many cars that NAPA Oshawa has helped restore will be featured in the auto show – including Johnston’s 1966 Pickup and loyal-and longtime customer Lucian Richard’s 1937 Chevrolet.
“I enjoy driving it,” said Richard. “If you build your own car, it’s different than a store-bought car.”
On top of the classic cars restored by Pineridge NAPA being showcased, Autofest will feature a silent auction for automotive collectibles, a poker run, and awards for the best cars presented at the show.
The event has annually attracted thousands since 1994, and according to AutoFest, has expanded astronomically since the initial showcase.
“What started out as a one time show had all the markings of an annual event,” stated AutoFest. “Participation grew by almost 50% [in 1995], as car owners heard of all the positive things about the show. Over the years, participants have driven their vehicles from as far away as Victoria, B.C. and Halifax, Nova Scotia, many U.S states including Texas, and all points in between.
The Autofest is running from August 24 – 25 in Oshawa Ontario. For more information, visit autofestoshawa.com
