Ready, Set, Go! AARDA to honour Jack Cohen with tappet cover race

Named for 'Jasper' Jack Cohen of Jasper Auto Parts, the Jack Cohen Tappet Cover Challenge will pit AARDA members against one another in friendly competition.

Calgary, Alberta — May 9, 2018 — When the Alberta Automotive Recyclers and Dismantlers Association meets for its annual conference next September, they will honour a fallen member in what is, perhaps, the most appropriate way imaginable for an auto recycler — with a tappet cover race.

Named for ‘Jasper’ Jack Cohen of Jasper Auto Parts, a recycler and active AARDA member who died in September 2017, the Jack Cohen Tappet Cover Challenge will see recyclers racing Pinewood Derby-style vehicles, but with valve cover from an car engine, rather than wooden blocks.

The excitement may serve as a welcome break from the more business-like proceedings of the annual conference, which will be held in Drumheller Alberta at the Canalta Jurassic Hotel and Conference Center in September 2018.
