Toronto, Ontario — If you’ve been vying for a chance to sit in a real-life firetruck, Standard Auto Wreckers may be able to deliver that opportunity this Saturday, when the Scarborough, Ontario, auto recycler will host the Markham Fire Department for a meet and greet and general auto extraction demonstration.
The Markham Fire Department conducts weekly training on-site at Standard Auto Wreckers and has done so for many years. Last fall, Standard Auto Wreckers owner David Gold even hosted the Markham and Oakville Fire Departments for a Rescue Symposium.
The firefighters will be on-site at 1216 Sewells Rd, Scarborough, Ont., starting at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, May 14, with a fire truck and a team on hand to meet and greet and do some auto extraction demonstrations for those that are interested in seeing what their first responders do.
“My father always supported the local fire department and we have built a very good relationship with the Markham Fire Department,” said Gold. “Standard Auto Wreckers stages vehicles for the Fire Department so they can do necessary and important training here and it has been a big success. We do this to give back to the community and we don’t charge anything–we are just happy that this has all worked out so well.”
