Toronto, Ontario — February 1, 2018 — In January, the European Commission has released figures showing the percentage of ELVs safely recycled and reused in each of its member states.
According to the figures, Croatians are the most efficient recyclers, with 99 percent of ELVs put to new purposes, with Poland and Luxembourg tied for second place at 97 percent.
Italy was at the bottom of the list, at just 84 percent, while the United Kingdom – still officially a member of the international organization despite a vote to leave it – was the country that had made the most gains – rising from just 87 percent
Were Canada to be a member of the European community, it would rank in the top third of nations, with the most recent figures indicating that its reuse and recycle rates are about 94 percent.
The latest figures, just published by the European Commission, show that the UK’s performance in 2015 rose by a record amount to an overall recovery and reuse rate of 90 percent to 96 percent in 2014. This figure is higher than recorded by political rivals Germany and France.
