Achievements at ARPAC: 2024 ARPAC conference raises over $55,000 for families in need

Saint-Georges, Quebec — Auto recyclers from all levels of the industry gathered on September 13 and 14, 2024 at the Le Georgesville hotel in St-Georgesde-Beauce in Quebec for L’Association Des Recycleurs De Pieces D’Autos et de Camions’ (ARPAC) annual conference.

Offering attendees a variety of activities, the conference invited guests to discuss emerging trends within the automotive recycling industry—such as the incoming wave of electric vehicles—while also providing a chance to give back to the community.

When speaking with David Gold, owner of Standard Auto Wreckers he commented that he was excited to see the number of attendees at this year’s event.

“There was a robust number of auto recyclers present at this year’s conference, and it carried the spirit of the ARPAC association,” Gold said.

While the event offered many activities, for Gold, the highlight was getting to tour local auto recycling yards, such as Pieces D’Autos Fernand Begin, and gain insight from the processes of other members of the industry.

“I was impressed by how clean and organized Pieces D’Autos Fernand Begin was. The business was clean as a whistle and had a great sense of ingenuity and infrastructure. Being able to meet with other members of the industry and see how they’re doing things, this learning is the spirit of the conference and the automotive recycling community at large.”

“From old school recyclers meeting with new recyclers and being able to collaborate in person,” Gold continued, “this year’s ARPAC was definitely an open and inviting environment.”

Moreover, when speaking to Sebastien Gravel, president of Gravel Pièces D’Autos, he further stressed that the event, which has now been taking place for more than 50 years, “brings together the best recyclers in Quebec.”

Like Gold, for Gravel, the highlight of the event was the spirit of collaboration promoted during the conference.

“As recyclers, we have a duty to the environment to our customers and our employees and events like ARPAC help keep recyclers up to date with the fast-paced changes happening in our sector.”

And, in the spirit of collaboration, to close out the event, guests joined together to participate in a silent auction to help raise money for the ARPAC Foundation and its humanitarian efforts in providing medical assistance to families in need. The auction successfully raised over $55,000 in donations.
