Toronto, Ontario– August 2, 2018 —The Yukon government has announced changes to the surcharges on the sales of new tires in the territory.
The news broke when the goverment made amendments to the Designated Materials Regulation, to further support waste diversion and increase recycling.
The government plans to target continued tire recycling, while also maintaining the right to free tire drop-off at local depots.
Surcharges from new tire sales will continue to be deposited directly into a recycling fund, which has been dedicated to the collection, shipping and recycling of these items.
