Canmore, Alberta — March 24, 2015 — Automotive recyclers from provincial associations in Saskatchewan and Alberta have announced the details of their upcoming joint meeting.
The Saskatchewan Auto Recyclers Association (SARA) and the Alberta Automotive Recyclers and Dismantlers Association (AARDA) will be hosting a unique conference experience for members, associate members, suppliers and friends on May 1 and 2 at the Coast Hotel & Conference Centre in Canmore, Alberta.
“We want to encourage the sharing of ideas and innovations across provincial borders so are planning a great conference at a fabulous location, on the east slopes of the Rocky Mountains,” says AARDA Executive Director Ian Hope, adding that the event’s theme centres around safe practices within the industry.
Kicking off Friday evening with a meet and greet reception at the Coast Hotel, the conference will offer suppliers and exhibitors opportunities to showcase their products and services, as well as network with members. Vendor exhibits will continue Saturday in the spacious main hall, which will also set the stage for presentations.
The conference’s second day will begin with each Association holding their separate Annual General Meetings (AGMS), followed by a presentation by Randy Montgomery of Harry’s Auto Wreckers in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Montgomery will speak from the heart and from experience as his shop had tragically lost a young man two years ago when a vehicle fell from its lift, crushing him.
Attendees will then hear from Alberta Occupational Health and Wellness, who will present a fast-paced and insightful review of best practices in safety and wellness in automotive workplaces.
Day two of the event will also host a highly energized, corporate presentation delivered by Wayne Lee. The award-winning corporate hypnotist and peak performance coach has presented to over 4000 audiences worldwide over the last two decades. Attendees will first hear from Lee in the afternoon, and once again during the evening dinner reception, where he will serve as the entertainment.
The conference will wrap up with reports and presentations from additional industry representatives and speakers, including Steve Fletcher, Managing Director of ARC, AARDA environmental consultant Colin McKean, and Garret Ellams with Evraz/Navajo Steel—who will discuss the steel industry and scrap metal market.
Event registration fees are set at $100 per delegate and $50 per spouse/guest.
