Toronto, Ontario — The Ontario Association of Automotive Recyclers (OARA) is hosting its annual Convention and Trade Show in two weeks—and the event is stacked with informative panels.
“[OARA is] taking a more ‘auto recycler to auto recycler’ approach to much of this year’s presentations,” explained Steve Fletcher, managing director of the Automotive Recyclers of Canada.
Following the invite-only EV Roundtable on Thursday, speaker sessions will kick off on Friday, March 31 with “The Future of Auto Recycling is Now”.
“The business of auto recycling evolves rapidly. Hear what is forecasting and what is happening right now that will help the business succeed now and onwards,” reads the panel description.
Friday’s panel will feature Ryan Mandell of Mitchell International; Shan Lathem, Cocoa Auto Salvage and the Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA); Dalbert Livingstone, Island Auto Supply and David Gold of Standard Auto Wreckers. The session will be moderated by Fletcher, and Rob Rainwater of Profit Team Consulting.
The first session of Saturday morning will focus on human resources, titled “Build it and they will come”.
“In these days of hiring, retention, training, and motivational challenges, how do you create an organization where employees are finding you? Learn how to implement strategies to increase employee retention and strengthen your company culture. Hear from the pros who are making a difference in managing their human resources,” says the panel description.
Rainwater of Profit Team Consulting will lead the session, with panellists Natalie Miller, Miller’s Auto Recycling; Lathem of ARA and Cocoa Auto Salvage and Michael Carcone of Carcone’s Auto Recycling.
At 10:45 a.m., Rainwater will lead another session—this time on managing the “balancing act” that is sales. Attendees can expect a “lively and interactive dialogue” from the panellists on how they navigate the many moving parts of sales operations. Fallon Clarke, Plazek Auto Recyclers; Sean McCooey, Miller’s Auto Recycling; Logan Hagerman, Woodbeck Auto Parts and Dustin Vetere of Dom’s Auto Parts will serve as panellists.
After a brief break for lunch, J.C. and Holly Cahill of VINMatchPro will close out the day, leading a panel on buying and inventory.
“We have all asked ourselves if we have bought the right vehicle and what more can we do when listing our parts. Hear about different purchasing methods and differing parts entry tactics, and how they can turn into new sales opportunities,” reads the description.
Matt Henderson of Carcone’s Auto Recycling; Bill Noack of Valley Automotive; Derek Nissen of Hank’s Auto Wreckers will serve as panellists.
The OARA Convention and Trade Show will run March 30 through April 1 at the Hilton Mississauga Meadowvale. Click here for more information.
