Gold Seal 2.0: Raising the bar for recyclers

By Wally Dingman

Toronto, Ontario — The Automotive Recyclers of Canada, in partnership with various provincial associations, including OARA, is advancing the next generation of its industry certification program, Gold Seal 2.0.

Since its launch, Gold Seal has helped recyclers demonstrate professionalism and quality standards, giving repairers, insurers and consumers confidence in the parts and services they receive. Now, the program is being refreshed to reflect today’s marketplace and tomorrow’s challenges.

Gold Seal 2.0 will introduce a much stronger focus on measurable performance metrics (KPIs) that align with the expectations of insurers, collision repairers — and consumers. Certification will not only recognize businesses that meet baseline requirements but will also highlight recyclers who consistently deliver on quality, reliability and accountability. This shift ensures Gold Seal members stand out as industry leaders, capable of competing in a marketplace where data and measurable results drive decision-making.

The program will also strengthen its environmental and safety components — showing how professional recyclers contribute to Canada’s climate goals, prevent unsafe parts from re-entering the market and support the broader circular economy. By tying certification to both quality and sustainability outcomes, Gold Seal 2.0 will reinforce why certified recyclers should be the first call for insurers and repair shops looking for dependable, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible parts.

The development of Gold Seal 2.0 is being shaped through consultation with members, insurers, and industry partners. This collaborative approach ensures the program is not only credible but also relevant and practical for recyclers of all sizes. When launched, Gold Seal 2.0 will give recyclers a stronger competitive edge, while building the confidence of stakeholders across the supply chain.

For ARC and OARA members, the message is clear: certification is evolving, and those who lead on quality and accountability will be the ones to thrive in the years ahead.
