Toronto, Ontario — There will be a friendly face taking the virtual stage at this year’s India International Vehicle Recycling Summit as Steve Fletcher, managing director of the Automotive Recyclers of Canada (ARC) is set to present during the three-day event.
Fletcher will lead a session–Vehicle Scrappage Programs – Key Success Factors from the Canadian Experience–on April 29 at 6:15 a.m. ET (3:15 p.m. IST).
Canada is known for its vehicle recycling program, Retire Your Ride, created in 2009 under the federal government and taken over by the ARC in 2011. As of October 2020, the average price paid out under the program was $387.37, marking an increase of 20.4 percent over October 2019.
India recently introduced a new scrappage policy dictating commercial vehicles of more than fifteen years of age and passenger vehicles of more than twenty years old will have to be mandatorily scrapped if they fail to pass fitness and emission tests. Customers who voluntarily scrap their vehicles will get a 15 percent to 25 percent rebate on road tax and a complete waiver of registration fees on the next new vehicle purchase.
The India International Vehicle Recycling Summit is free to participate in and can provide networking opportunities for those that are interested. Click here for more information.
