Toronto, Ontario — In its fourth quarter financial results for 2024, North American lithium-ion battery recycling company, Li-Cycle, reported recycling the equivalent of more than 100 MWh of energy from its Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) partners.
As noted in recent reports, this equivalent further represents a 33 percent increase from 2023 results.
Other highlights from the financial period include:
- BESS contributed to 27 percent of the United State’s recycling feedstock
- A projected growth of energy storage from 34.4 GWh to 67.5 GWh by 2028 based on current data projections
According to online reports, the company’s Q3 2024 investor presentation further detailed that the feedstock at the beginning of the year contained approximately two percent energy storage material. Comparatively, Q4 2024’s figure of 27 percent represents a 25 percent increase in energy storage materials in the feedstock from Q1 to Q4.
