Driving Sustainability: IRT’s webinar, ‘Pioneering Sustainable Solutions’ taking place today, February 13,12:00 p.m. GMT

Toronto, Ontario — The International Round Table on Automotive Recycling’s (IRT) webinar, “Pioneering Sustainable Solutions: The Future of Automotive Plastics Recycling” is set to begin today at 12:00 p.m. GMT.

This webinar is open to anyone who is a part of the automotive recycling community, and will include topics such as the key aspects involved in proposed ELV regulations alongside innovative solutions for automotive plastic recycling.

Additionally, participants will learn how these changes will affect manufacturers, recyclers, policymakers and the entire supply chain, along with proactive strategies to stay ahead in the evolving landscape of automotive recycling.

Featured speakers include: Maria Vera-Duran, Senior Technical Manager at EuRIC and Paul Mayhew, Director at MBA Polymers UK.

As noted in a recent release, Maria Vera-Duran will discuss the European Commission’s proposal for a new ELV Regulation, highlighting the opportunity to enhance vehicle circularity. Currently, about 80 percent of plastics from ELVs are either landfilled or incinerated, leading to significant resource and energy losses. She will emphasize the importance of ambitious recycled content targets for plastics in vehicles and improved design for recycling to make the automotive sector more circular.

Finally, Paul Mayhew will share insights into MBA Polymers UK’s innovative car bumper recycling service, which collaborates with authorized treatment facilities, insurers, and garages to collect damaged or end-of-life bumpers. By recycling bumpers directly—prior to the typical shredding process—the company produces high-performance polymers suitable for use in new vehicles.
