Circular Solutions: Toyota envisions Circular Factory to recycle and reintegrate vehicle materials and parts

Burnaston, England – According to online reports, Toyota Motor Europe has announced the creation of the automaker’s first Toyota Circular Factory (TCF), a facility designed to reintegrate end-of-life vehicles as reusable parts and recycled materials.

As noted by the automaker, the new TCF facility is planned for Burnaston, England in the third quarter of 2025.

Once functional, the facility will take parts that are rebuildable and will work on putting them back into service, while copper, steel, plastic and aluminum will be recycled.

“We initially anticipate recycling around 10,000 vehicles a year in our UK facility, which will give new life to 120,000 parts, recover 300 tonnes of high-purity plastic and 8,200 tonnes of steel, among other materials,” said Toyota Motors Europe Vice President of Circular Economy, Leon van der Merwe in an official statement.

“As a next step, we plan to roll out similar operations across Europe. And we’re not stopping at our own facilities,” van der Merwe continued. “We are eager to collaborate with other organizations who share our passion for circularity and commitment to carbon neutrality.”
