Toronto Ontario–October 1 2010–Ever wonder what happens to tires once you hand them over to the collectors? The answer was front and centre this week at the Rubber Association of Canada’s Rubber Recycling Symposium.
The symposium ran from September 29-October 1 and focused on a variety of topics to do with recycling processing and reusing rubber from things such as used tires. Among the products on at the Ontario Tire Stewardship-sponsored trade show were sporting mats speed bumps artificial turf and even mulch for the garden all made from recycled rubber.
“I want to thank the progressive individuals in this room for taking something that people once thought was waste and realizing what it really is: a resource” said Ontario’s minister of the environment John Wilkinson at his keynote speech during lunch.
