Recycling Rodeo: WasteExpo kicks off in Las Vegas

Las Vegas, Nevada — WasteExpo 2025 is in full swing, offering Canada’s auto recycling professionals a glimpse into the future of the circular economy.

Held at the Las Vegas Convention Center from May 6 to 9, WasteExpo is North America’s largest solid waste, recycling and organics trade show. With over 13,000 attendees and hundreds of exhibitors, the event brings together professionals from every corner of the waste ecosystem. Among them, auto recyclers have found new relevance as environmental mandates and electric vehicle growth reshape the lifecycle of cars and their components.

This year’s programming includes key sessions of direct relevance to automotive recyclers. Topics like lithium-ion battery recovery, vehicle dismantling best practices and end-of-life electric vehicle materials management are being addressed head-on. A highlight for the industry is the panel titled “The Next Chapter in Automotive Recycling”, featuring speakers from major U.S. and international dismantlers discussing the challenges and opportunities in reclaiming metals and components from modern vehicles.

The event features more than 100 educational sessions covering topics such as recycling innovations, sustainability practices and regulatory updates. These sessions provide valuable knowledge to help auto recyclers stay informed and compliant with industry standards

On the exhibition floor, companies are showcasing high-efficiency shredders, advanced sorting systems and software to streamline inventory and compliance tracking. Canadian attendees in particular are taking note of technology aimed at helping recyclers meet provincial environmental regulations and national climate targets.

WasteExpo showcases over 550 exhibitors, including companies like Liebherr and Rotobec, presenting cutting-edge equipment and solutions pertinent to the recycling sector. Liebherr will display its L 566 Z XPower wheel loader and LH 22 M material handler, designed to enhance material handling in recycling operations.
