Excellence in Estevan: JS Truckmart wows industry during tour

Estevan, Saskatchewan — “Working together as a professional team to provide quality parts for our customers in a positive and agile work environment; while setting a new standard of excellence in the automotive recycling industry.” That motto has carried JS Truckmart far from the remote prairies of Estevan, Sask., while retaining its small-town heart and humility.

Delegates from the Saskatchewan Automotive Recyclers Association (SARA) and the Automotive Recyclers of Canada (ARC) Board of Directors were treated to a tour of one of Canada’s up-and-coming auto recyclers–JS Truckmart as part of the recent SARA Meeting with the ARC Board in Regina, Sask.

With just seven years in business, the dynamic company is run by Jeremy Swanson and Christa and Bart Morhart. With 42 employees working on 30 acres, the company processes 150 cars per month. They are buying cars across Western Canada, selling 98 percent of their parts outside their local market–sold throughout Canada and the USA—and served daily by five couriers and shipping companies.

Interestingly, all of their sales staff work remotely–a growing trend in the industry.

JS Truckmart operates a warehouse across the border in North Dakota.

They are very active in the industry with Christa joining the SARA Board, Swanson as QRP Canada Board Chair, and members of SARA, ARC, URG, ARA, QRP Canada and TeamPRP.

Tour delegates were impressed at how impressive the facility was. There was a general consensus that this facility, in rural Saskatchewan, was an incredible find.

“The tour at JS Truckmart was outstanding. It’s always positive and motivating to see such progressive recyclers open their doors to their peers so that we can all get better. Learning by seeing, doing and sharing are great attributes of this industry,” said ARC Chair and owner of Island Auto Supply Dalbert Livingstone.

“That is probably the best auto recycler I have toured in North America, and JS stacks up very well against any of the facilities that I have seen globally,” said Steve Fletcher, managing director of the ARC. “Truly impressive facilities with the people and processes to match.”

“We were super appreciative of Jeremy, Bart, Christa and their staff for opening their doors to host SARA and ARC for lunch and an insightful tour of JS Truckmart,” said Derek Nissen of Hank’s Auto Wreckers in Ontario.

Not only were the auto recyclers who were present impressed–but the business community in Saskatchewan has also been impressed.

JS Truckmart won twice at the recent Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce’s Achievement in Business Excellence (ABEX) Awards, cleaning up with the Business of the Year and the Growth and Expansion Award. The company was also a finalist for the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award. Last year the company won all three awards at the Estevan Business Excellence Awards.

Look to hear more from this fantastic organization–a bright shining light for the auto recycling sector from Canada’s Prairies.
