Continental Connections: ARC and Auto Recycling World host latest global automotive recycling webinar under IRT banner

Toronto, Ontario — The Automotive Recyclers of Canada (ARC) and Auto Recycling World hosted the latest global auto recycling webinar under the International Roundtable on Auto Recycling (IRT) banner this week.

During the event, 50 delegates from 14 countries gathered online to hear about automotive recycling and innovations in Australia, Japan and Asia.

The webinar featured panellist David Nolan, Executive Director of the Auto Recyclers Association of Australia, along with Minoru Goko, Professor at Nihon Automotive College and Vice President of NPO-Japan Auto Recyclers Alliance, who presented industry information on their respective countries.

Steve Fletcher, ARC Managing Director and co-host of the IRT webinar series commented that during the event, “it was fascinating to see how common the problems (and opportunities) that abound in the industry are tackled by different countries. It was very apparent that Canada and Australia share a similar geography–a small population with a large landmass–which pushes the industry in certain directions. Canada’s proximity to the huge and innovative United States market provides some advantages, but Australia’s closeness to both China and Japan provides interesting challenges as well.”

This webinar was the third in a series of webinars previously covering electrification and sustainability from the auto recycler’s perspective. The webinar series can be viewed on IRT’s website, and a recording of the latest webinar can be viewed here.

The next webinar is scheduled for December 3, 2024, and will cover the importance of data to auto recyclers and the emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) within the sector.

“We are thrilled with the interaction and information exchange that these webinars are producing and encouraging. It is especially interesting that the majority of delegates are starting to come from outside the traditional auto recycling industry, with OEMs, insurers, repairers and other industry stakeholders wanting to learn more about auto recycling,” Fletcher concluded.
