Toronto, Ontario — The Ontario Automotive Recyclers Association (OARA) Annual Convention and Trade Show begins tomorrow, while the Automotive Recyclers of Canada (ARC) is hosting its highly anticipated Electric Vehicle Roundtable today, where more than 75 automotive industry delegates will discuss the implications of and actions surrounding end-of-life EV processing.

This high-level industry event will feature presentations from experts like Maria Kelleher from Kelleher Environmental, who will speak on how the electric vehicle (EV) sector interacts with non-government organizations as well as the government.

Ryan Mandell, director of claims performance at Mitchell International, will take the stage to offer his company’s latest EV data related to the recycling industry. Jeff Haltrecht, from Call2Recycle Canada and co-author of the Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers Association’s (CVMA) “EV Battery Management at End-of-Vehicle Life” report, will present his findings. Finally, ARC Managing Director Steve Fletcher will provide a synopsis of the organization’s “Roadmap and Implementation Plan for the Management of End-of-Life Electric Vehicles in Canada.” The EV Roundtable is generously sponsored by OARA, IAA and Cyclic Materials.

Canadian Auto Recyclers will be filming the event to provide comprehensive video coverage, out next week, following the event.

Following the Roundtable, the OARA Convention and Trade Show will kick off Friday morning and feature a trade show and numerous educational sessions and panels, including a discussion on the future of auto recycling; current trends in auto recycling, collision and insurance sectors and much more. Speaker sessions and the trade show continue through Saturday, April 1. Click here for the full event schedule.

According to Fletcher, who also serves as executive director of OARA, this year’s presentations are designed to be “auto recycler to auto recycler” based conversations.

OARA will also be raffling items during a Friday night social, raising funds for its Employee Scholarship Program.
