It has been a big year for Johnson Auto Wreckers out in Danford Lake, Quebec. The company’s second-generation owner, Gary Johnson, was appointed to a position on the board of representatives for the Association des recycleurs de pièces d’autos et de camions (ARPAC) in August, adding further credibility to his family’s auto recycling business, which has been operating in the area since 1988.
Beyond that, Johnson Auto Wreckers has seen the addition of a car press and a set of scales over the past few years, further expanding the business’ capabilities when it comes to dismantling end-of-life vehicles. Most recently, Johnson says they purchased their own trailer for hauling crushed cars to the steel mill.
“After a call from Stephane Gravel of Pieces d’auto, saying he was going to nominate me for the ARC position, I was nervous but also very excited to join the national association at the Board level. I think it was the next step for me.”
“I have been wanting to get more involved at that level for the past year or more and wasn’t sure where or how to get there. I want to be able to help make the industry the best it can be and hopefully leave something great for my two boys.”
